Organisational Capability Consultant – 12 months

Would you enjoy helping the UK’s leading renewable energy business shape it’s talent agenda?  ScottishPower is on a mission to revolutionise the UK’s approach to green energy and smart technologies. And we have an ambitious people strategy to enable that to happen. We recently reviewed our entire HR model to ensure that we were best positioned to meet the needs of a rapidly changing business. As a result, we have created a new team called HR Solutions.

Working in collaboration with the wider HR community at ScottishPower (and our parent company, Iberdrola), the HR Solutions team is set to become an agile internal consultancy service, with a fluid and flexible approach to managing people related projects across the business. The goal is to create a hub of subject matter experts and generalist consultants who work together to solve business issues and help move us towards our longer-term people vision.

This particular role is for a HR Consultant with a background in Organisational Capability. This will be a 12 month secondment or Fixed Term role.


You’ll be focused on developing solutions and services that help to develop and build engagement, performance and capability. Specific activities will vary depending on the business needs, but we expect the person in this role to focus on projects like:

  • Managing and promoting our mentoring programmes, and building the capabilities of mentors and mentees
  • Identifying opportunities for mentoring to support our D&I roadmap particularly in relation to reverse mentoring
  • Sourcing, developing and promoting tools to help business leaders identify behavioural strengths and areas of development in their people, and deliver learning content to help build behavioural competencies across all levels
  • Coordination of our annual performance and development cycle and promotion of the company’s approach to development and career planning
  • Developing and promoting materials on Team Dynamics and Effectiveness
  • Using psychometric tools to help teams understand individual preferences and support the development of high performing teams
  • Supporting a review of critical skills across the ScottishPower business, and ongoing delivery of our Global Strategic Learning Framework

Skills and Experience

  • Proven HR experience with experience of learning and development, change management and organisational development
  • Experience or interest in operating in a collaborative agile model
  • Proven ability of working in collaboratively with the business and HR Teams
  • Ideally an accredited Client Practitioner in Insights Discovery and an experienced group facilitator
  • Excellent communication, influencing and networking skills, with a broad range of communication styles for a variety of different audiences
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers or suppliers including contracting, agreeing deliverables, evaluating delivery and addressing any areas for improvement
  • Knowledge and experience of innovative learning solutions across digital, classroom, eLearning and wider blended learning and engagement solutions
  • Experience of event design and delivery

What We Offer

This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract offering a salary from £43,520 per annum a performance related bonus up to 10% and Individual private healthcare coverage.
